Spirulina and Wheatgrass
are two separate products. Both are food supplement aquatic vegetables. Spirulina
is grown in Hawaii, is high in both vitamins A & E, and has been eaten by humans
since ancient times. Wheatgrass is an organic vegetable high in vitamin K

Spirulina
Spirulina is an edible freshwater micro algae. The microscopic aquatic vegetable
looks like a short piece of stretched screen door spring. It has been eaten by humans
since ancient times in Africa and Mexico. The Spanish Conquistadores conquered Mexico
partially by denying the native warriors their strength and health. We now know that
it is 62% amino acids which are the building blocks of protein. Growth and repair
of the body tissue is accelerated. One of the reasons the warriors were so healthy
was that Spirulina has 20 times the carotene anti-oxidant of carrots. Just as with
humans, a rich source of vitamin A and E gives birds a glow with enhanced color and
health. Spirulina, for the warriors, was a rich source of calcium and phosphorus
which is needed to assimilate calcium. Calcium is a nutrient deficiency in most birds
but African Greys have a particularly difficult problem.
In the first Avian experiments, a small amount of Spirulina increased "Fertility"
to 96.1%. The calming effect of B-12 is a definite factor. Spirulina is the richest
natural source of vitamin B-12. Five different recent scientific studies state that
antibody production, T-cell and keller cell functions are greatly improved in Spirulina
fed birds. The natural immune system is greatly enhanced. Baby birds fed Spirulina
were strengthened against infection by accelerated growth of the cellular immune
system. Candida, E.coli and staph infections were avoided.
For FERTILITY, GROWTH, REPAIR, ENHANCED IMMUNE SYSTEM, STRESS REDUCTION, COLOR INTENSITY
and CALCIUM ASSIMILATION use SPIRULINA. |

Wheatgrass
Unjointed Wheatgrass
is planted in the fall and sprouts in the spring. The grain is especially rich in
PROTEIN, ENZYMES VITAMINS, FIBER and PHOTOCHEMICALS like CHLOROPHYLL.
This organic grown Wheatgrass is especially HIGH in VITAMIN K. This is especially
beneficial to FIG PARROTS, CONURES, and other birds more susceptible to blood hemorrhaging.
Because of the high fiber content Wheatgrass is especially beneficial to the lower
digestive system. Non-digestible complex sugars benefit "good" bacteria
in the gut and inhibits "bad" bacteria. |

Feeding Formulas
The process of feeding Wheatgrass and Spirulina are the same.
For the best results give both Spirulina and Wheatgrass in the same feeding.
The Hand Feeding Formula is one level teaspoon per pint of dry formula.
Adult birds need only 1% to 2% of dry weight feed daily. A light dusting on vegetables,
soft foods, or add to breads or cornbread mix. Keep in dry and dark storage. |
